I couldn’t let the day go by without chiming in from my little corner of the ThankGodO’Sphere.
The main intersection in my neighborhood’s “downtown” is the go-to place for peaceful protest and social activism. The “Alaska Junction” traffic lights are set so that pedestrians are cycled in every few minutes to cross BOTH ways or diagonally without worrying about cross traffic.
The West Seattle Neighbors for Peace and Justice steadfastly marched the crosswalks in the run-up to the Iraq War, and this spring the junction was packed with the same passionate protests for racial equality that rocked the nation after George Floyd’s murder.
We all know when the honking started this morning … I caught a bit of the jubilation that was just getting underway. Love to all … my soul is about a ton lighter than it was yesterday and I have hope in my heart.
